Ultravac® Botulinum Vaccine

Description

  • Ultravac® Botulinum Vaccine is used to prevent botulism in cattle and sheep.

Recommendations for Use

Ultravac® Botulinum vaccine provides protection against both C. botulinum Type C and Type D in sheep and cattle.

The Zoetis Advantage

  • Tens of millions of doses of Ultravac® Botulinum vaccine have been sold over the years. Cattle producers trust the Zoetis brand and have grown accustomed to the high quality and service that Zoetis offers.
  • Ultravac® Botulinum Vaccine has a low 2.5mL dose that reduces required refrigerated storage space and fewer pack changes are needed during herd vaccination.

Dosage

Dose Rate

  • This product can be stored and used for up to 30 days after first opening.
  • The route of inoculation is subcutaneous (injected under the skin). The recommended site for injection is high on the neck, behind the ear.
  • The recommended dose for cattle of all ages is 2.5 mL, and for sheep of all ages is 1 ml.
  • One dose of vaccine is sufficient to confer protection in areas where botulism is endemic but, whenever possible, each animal should be given a second dose of vaccine with an interval of four to six weeks between doses.
  • Thereafter, one dose each year is sufficient to maintain immunity.

DEVELOPMENT OF IMMUNITY
As maximum immunity develops about four weeks after vaccination, the best time to commence vaccination is four to eight weeks before the date at which deaths usually occur.
