ProHeart® SR-12 Injection
Expand All
-
- Once-a-year heartworm preventative for dogs.
- For the control of larval and adult hookworms (Anycylostoma caninum and Uncinaria stenocephala) at the time of treatment.
-
- Recommended for the twelve month prevention of heartworm infection in dogs from twelve weeks of age.
-
- First and only product to provide twelve months of protection from heartworm infection in a single subcutaneous dose, due to its sustained release technology.
- The single administration of ProHeart SR-12 eliminates the possibility of the pet owner missing one or more monthly dose, which is the primary cause of lack of efficacy associated with heartworm medications.
- Efficacious and well tolerated in a variety of canine breeds.
-
- ProHeart SR-12 exerts its effect at the tissue migrating stage by acting on the glutamate-gated chloride channel complex. This causes an influx of chloride ions and hyperpolarisation of cell membranes, resulting in paralysis and death of the parasitic organism. Another proposed mechanism of action for moxidectin is through enhancing release of GABA at presynaptic neurons. GABA acts as an inhibitory neurotransmitter.
-
- After resuspending the product with sterile vehicle, administer 1 mL of suspension per 20 kg of body weight to provide a dose of 0.5 mg moxidectin/kg body weight. To maintain full protection, repeat dosing every 12 months.
- Recommended for use in dogs from 12 weeks of age.
